School Dog
Our School Dog is called Mabel.
Mabel has been at Townfield since she was a puppy. Since joining the Townfield Primary community in 2019, Mabel has become a valuable and treasured asset. Children and adults alike, all enjoy having Mabel in class or seeing her about the school on her School Dog duties.
Please see our Frequently Asked Questions sheet for any information regarding Mabel.
We understand that some children may be fearful or frightened by dogs and always ensure access to Mabel is carefully managed and supervised. Children do not need to have regular or close contact with the school dog. We will work closely with parents/carers of children who are fearful of dogs to alleviate their fear and to teach them how to manage this. Please be assured, no child will ever be pressured to engage with Mabel, unless they want to.
Should any parents/carers wish for their child not to have any engagement or interaction with Mabel, we ask that they please advise school by emailing townfieldoffice@remat.org.uk
