Enrichment

Enrichment Programme

You can see more details of our clubs in our Enrichment & Clubs section (within the Parents & Carers dropdown) of our website.

Enrichment at Townfield compliments our fantastic curriculum and takes place in a variety of ways from exciting day trips, memorable residential trips and vistors to our extensive after-school club programme.  Enrichment provides extended learning opportunities and challenges for our children outside of the normal classroom routine.  Through enrichment, our children develop a  sense of self-awareness and often gain a better understanding of what they are learning in the classroom.  Enrichment promotes critical thinking and problem solving skills, helps to improve concentration and makes learning more meaningful, valuable and rewarding.

Opportunities to further enhance our pupils' learning include:

Forest School & Outdoor Learning

At Townfield, we are extremely fortunate in having our very own woodland area on site as well as trained staff who deliver our engaging Woodland Learning curriciulum. Our Woodland Learning programme is designed to encourage and inspire every single one of our pupils through an innovative, long term, educational approach to outdoor play and learning in a woodland environment.

Educational Visits and Residentials

At Townfield, school trips and visits are an extremely important and integral part of our curriculum.  We value the opportunities that educational visits offer our pupils and the commitment of staff and adults undertaking them.  Our trips are aimed at bringing learning alive and providing first-hand experiences for our pupils.  We also provide extra-curricular outings such as sporting events and attending or taking part in performances or competitions, particularly across our Trust schools.

This year, our Year 6 pupils will take part in a residential visit to Robin Wood Activity Centre in Wrexham, North Wales where they will experience orienteering, climbing, abseiling, raft building, archery and lots more.

Visitors to School

Visitors have a valuable role to play and can contribute to many aspects of the life and work of the school.  Visitors deliver talks, workshops and full day activities across a wide range of subjects, giving pupils access to outside experiences and expertise. Visitors also provide our pupils with a link to the wider community – children have the opportunity to work alongside artists, musicians, authors, religious personnel, health professions, emergency service personnel and others.

Whole School Theme Days/Weeks

At Townfield, we ensure that throughout the school year, themed days/weeks are included in the curriculum to extend the breadth and balance of opportunities we offer our pupils. These include, for example, Anti-bullying Week, E-Safety Day, Children's Mental Health Week, World Book Day, Children in Need Day, Black History Month, British Science Day and Cultural Diversity Day.
