Signing Bears

  • Mrs Rigg

    Hello,

I am Mrs Rigg, the manager of the Hearing Support Base here at Townfield. I have worked here for almost ten years - it has gone so fast! I was originally employed as teaching assistant working with Deaf children across the school. I then commenced a Higher Level Teaching Assistant course during which time I was successful in achieving a HLTA position in Townfield. My most recent change in career happened when I was appointed as Teacher of the Deaf and manager of the Hearing Support Base- this has been my dream job for a long time and I am very lucky to have job I love!

Outside of school I enjoy spending time with my two children, who both attend Townfield, and my husband. We often like to go the theatre, cinema, swimming or our favourite place to go is Llandudno!

  • Mrs Griffiths

Hello my name is Mrs Griffiths and I work in the Hearing Support Base here at Townfield Primary School.  I have worked at TPS since 2001 with a two year break when I was working at a school in Melbourne Australia.  My role is to support a small group of amazing year one pupils in the Hearing Support Base.  Outside of work I enjoy walking at the weekends and discovering new places to visit during the school holidays.

  • Mrs Ballinger

My name is Miss Ballinger. I've been a teaching assistant in the Hearing Support Base at Townfield since September. I am lucky enough to work with Max and Riley in Year One, Shay and Aneesha in Year Three and Nathan in Year Six. I support all these children in their classrooms, helping them as they join in with their class friends. As well as this I teach BSL to year 1 and Year 6. I'm always impressed with how well the children can sign.

Outside school I'm studying for my BSL Level 3. My hobbies include horse riding, reading and writing stories as well as watching live music. I have a three year old sheep dog called Dexter, and we spend a lot of time walking or running around Storeton Woods and along West Kirby Beach!

  • Mrs Green

    Hello,

My name is Mrs Green and I have worked in the Hearing Support Base at TPS for one year now. I support two children in Year 3 and I really enjoy my job signing for them and helping them in their work. My favourite part of the day is when I work individually with them and I can really see the progress of their achievements. The Base has a lovely atmosphere and all the deaf children enjoy socialising together regardless of age. We come together once a week to celebrate the children’s achievements.

In my spare time I really enjoy going for walks and also cycling when I can. I love reading too – I’m a terrible bookworm and always have at least two books on the go. I’m still getting to know the wonders of the Wirral having lived in Leicestershire for the past 25 years but I love it here and there are plenty of new places for me to go walking!
