Year 1 Paddington Bears

Daily Phonics

Starting Monday 27th April, your children will be able to access daily phonics lessons through letters and sounds which is the scheme that we use at Townfield.

The online lessons are designed to follow the phonics programme your child has been learning at school and have been approved and funded by the Department for Education.

These lessons will be added daily between 10 and 11 am daily and will remain on the site to be used throughout Summer term.

The lessons are accessed via the Letter and Sounds youtube channel - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCP_FbjYUP_UtldV2K_-niWw/

The videos can be accessed at any time after they have been uploaded; a new lesson will be added daily between 10 and 11am. Feel free to amend your home timetable as appropriate to fit this in.

When accessing lessons, you should select 'Year group your child is in and  Summer Term'

A very important reminder to have a go at the P.E. project set this week. The pupils who are attending school today are having a sports day so there is a nice link for all the children.

Also, yesterday we were recognised with an award by Wirral School Games for the competitions we took part in September – March. They are now looking for schools who are encouraging their pupils to be active during lockdown and checking websites/social media to award the ‘Virtual School Games Marks’. It would be great if we could work towards this as a school so the more you post the better! Please send in your project/photographs either through Purple Mash or through the school email!!!

Harry organised his own sports day at home with his brother. They collected all the things they needed and even boiled the eggs for their 'egg and spoon race.'

The Museum of Liverpool

Year 1 had an amazing time at the Museum of Liverpool; exploring Toys from the past.

The children enjoyed exploring a variety of toys from the past and discovered how toys have changed over time They were able to identify that most toys in the past were home made and made from wood and modern toys are usually plastic and are often battery operated.

The children spent some time playing with the toys in the museum. George enjoyed playing with a  ‘Cup and Ball’ and lots of children enjoyed playing with the ‘Puppet Theatre.’

The children also had time in “Little Liverpool’ and enjoyed operating the boats and ‘fishing.’

The children thoroughly enjoyed the trip however I think most enjoyed their lunch as they were asking for lunch from 10am!

All of the children were so well behaved on the trip and several members of the public commented on how smart they all looked in their uniform.
