In PE we have been working together as a team. We had to sit back to back with our elbows linked and try to stand up. What a challenge!
Exploring materials and their properties
Date: 17th Sep 2021 @ 7:38pm
We have been learning about different materials and their properties. We used our senses to make observations about them.
Science Investigation (Understanding the World/Science)
Date: 17th Sep 2021 @ 5:41pm
We were very lucky to have a visit from one of our parents, who is a Science teacher. We had lots of fun exploring gloop. Gloop is made by mixing cornflour and water. This non-Newtonian fluid is fasinating to explore as its viscoity changes. You can roll it into a ball and then watch as it runs like a liquid through your fingers!
Creating Plans and Traps (EAD/DT)
Date: 17th Sep 2021 @ 5:40pm
We have been exploring the story of the Three Little Pigs. We designed and planned our own houses. We also designed some traps to catch the big, bad wolf.
Our First Woodland Learning Session

Class 6P - What have we been up to so far?
Date: 16th Sep 2021 @ 7:21pm
Class 6P have settled into Year 6 extremely well and we are so proud of them! Have a look at just some of the fun lessons we have been learning so far!
(More to follow!)
Maths
Class 6P have been working really hard in our 'Maths No Problem' lessons since we have returned to school!
We have been using place value charts and place value number discs to help us with our place value recognition. We have been partitioning numbers up to ten million!
We have also just started learning all about mixed number operations!
Science
We are learning all about 'Light' in Science! So far we have completed some fantastic experiments including making a periscope, creating rainbows with prisms and making colour wheels. We have also researched the work of the famous scientist Isaac Newton.
We learnt all about how we see light.
Reading
We have been learning all about World War Two in our Reading lessons whilst reading the non-fiction book below. We have been practising how to summarise lots of information and learning lots of new vocabulary!
Next, we will be reading Anne Frank's Diary!
Date: 12th Sep 2021 @ 8:56pm
This week Year 2 have been outside exploring Microhabitats!
Date: 30th Jun 2021 @ 12:08pm
We have been learning about landmarks in London and the similarities and differences between London and the Wirral.
Date: 23rd Jun 2021 @ 12:08pm
The children have become keen independant story writers. We have really enjoyed reading their stories about castles, jungles, ice cream and mermaids. The children remembered a capital letter, finger spaces, to stretch out the sounds and a full stop.

This week we investigated ice. We watched the solid ice cubes turn into liquid and then we tried to predict where we could place the ice to make it melt faster. To explore the process in reverse, we made ice lollies. We poured the liquid into cups and then placed them in the freezer. Once the liquid has turned into a solid we will be able to enjoy them.
Date: 18th Jun 2021 @ 3:35pm
We often use tens frames in Maths. In this Maths challenge the children had to place the counters on ten frames to correspond with the numeral on the pebble.
Date: 18th Jun 2021 @ 3:04pm
We had to select the correct scoops of ice cream to match the pictures.
Date: 18th Jun 2021 @ 2:57pm
This half term we are exploring Games in our PE lessons. Today we played games that involved scoring. We had to keep track of our own score. In some games you could score different amounts depending on which hoop the beanbag landed in or how many hurdles the ball rolled under. We had to be accurate in our scoring and calculate the new total after each turn.
Date: 18th Jun 2021 @ 2:39pm
We had great fun learning how to code using the Robot Mouse.
Date: 17th Jun 2021 @ 12:05pm
We found some things from our classroom trapped in ice. We thought of ways that we could get them out. We decided that we needed to melt the ice. We used the radiator, our hands, the hand dryer and hot water. We also made our own lolly ice! We chose the flavour and have put them in the freezer to change from liquid to a solid. We can't wait to eat them!
